Water Meters  Consumer Confidence Report

Ordinances states: Owners and Occupants are prohibited from obstructing meters or to do
anything that interferes with the reading

water meters.

The Village of South Rockwood receives it water from Detroit.

Water Meters

Break Down of Utility Bill
Residents are charged a flat rate monthly for base water, sewer, and rubbish.  The rate as of July 1, 2022 is $76.20 per month.  In addition, residents are charged quarterly for water/sewer usage at their residence for the quarter.  Quarterly water/sewer readings are billed in January, April, July and October for the previous 3 months.

Water Usage (WA) rate $4.13 per 1000 gallons. 
This rate is used to pay the City of Detroit for the water purchased.

Water Debt Service (WD) $10.77 flat fee per month per residential equivalency unit.
This fee pays for the Michigan Drinking Water Revolving Fund Bond principle and interest payments.

Water Maintenance (WM)  $16.78 flat fee per month per residential equivalency unit.
This fee covers all other expenses of the water fund which include the following: payroll for reading meters, preparing utility bills and posting payments; the water department's share of the utilities, legal and engineering fees; water main break repairs; purchase and installation of meters, hydrants and valves; hydrant flushing, valve turning and all other required maintenance. It also covers the cost of training and certification for the employees as required by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. (EGLE)

Sewer Usage (SW) rate $5.53 per 1000 gallons.
This usage pays for the processing of the sanitary sewage, downspouts, sump pump or other groundwater diverted into the sanitary sewer.

Sewer Debt (SD) $20.26 flat fee per month per residential equivalency unit.
This fee pays for several bond principle and interest payments each year. The State of Michigan has required several improvements to the sewer processing plant.  These improvements were paid for by the sale of bonds.

Sewer Maintenance (SC) $15.90 flat fee per month per residential equivalency unit.
This fee covers all other maintenance cost of the Village's sewers which include the following: any upgrades to the sewer mains; contractual services with the Monroe County Drain Commission to operate and maintain the three pump stations and to flush and remove clogs from the sewer mains.  It also covers Sewer Funds share of utilities, engineering, legal fees, payroll and payment collections.

Rubbish (RU) $12.49 flat fee per month per residential equivalency unit.
